Why don't believers have to force themselves to keep the law?
Believers do not have to force themselves into law-keeping because the Holy Spirit, the Pneuma Hagion, provides the power from on high needed to confront the old nature and live victoriously. By faith they draw on Him, and it becomes natural for the Spirit to run the race for them.
Les teaches that the Holy Spirit is the person, but He gives believers what they need to confront the old nature and its desires and to live victoriously in the flesh. We cannot do this without the Pneuma Hagion, the power from on high exercised through the person of the Holy Spirit. This is what we understand by faith: "Lord, I have the Holy Spirit. I can draw on Him, and I don't have to force myself to be a law keeper." It simply now comes naturally to let the Spirit run the race for us. Les contrasts this with those after the flesh in Galatians 5, who mind the things of the flesh and know nothing of God's saving grace, being concerned only to gratify the flesh.
