Why is the law called perfect from God's viewpoint?
The law is called perfect from God’s viewpoint because it was the very mind of God expressed, revealing His righteousness and holiness and serving as the best for mankind’s benefit and God’s own good. God gave the Ten Commandments, and they perfectly reflected His holy character, even though human flesh cannot fulfill them.
Les explains that from God’s viewpoint the law was perfect because it was the very mind of God expressed, intended for mankind’s best benefit and God’s own good. When God gave the Ten Commandments, He revealed His righteousness and holiness. Yet from the human standpoint the law was weak and a yoke, because it was weak through the flesh; mankind could not keep it. God therefore sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled.
