How can a believer control the failures of the body?

The believer controls the failures of the body by strengthening the new nature so it becomes uppermost in thoughts, acts, and deeds. This requires constantly suppressing the old Adamic nature, recognizing Satan works through it, with the comfort that He within you is greater than Satan’s powers.

Les teaches from Romans 7 that the new nature, prompted by the Holy Spirit, tells the believer that what the body and flesh do is wrong, while old Adam is still slipping in and getting the job done. To control the failures of the body, this new part has to be strengthened and become uppermost in all thoughts, acts, and deeds, and the old Adamic nature has to be constantly kept in suppression. He notes that the excuse that the devil made me do it is not very often the case; old Adam is usually the culprit. But Satan is not left out entirely, because Satan works through the old nature as his playground and loves to get the old Adamic nature to control and exercise its desires. The believer’s comfort is that the One within is greater than the powers of Satan.
