What is the chain of influence from the Holy Spirit to the physical body?
The Holy Spirit indwells and regenerates the human spirit, then works upon that spirit to influence the new nature. The new nature, in turn, controls the acts of the physical body. When led by the Spirit, the body aligns with God's laws, which are good for society, family, and marital relationships.
Les explains that old Adam is still present experientially, but the new nature is imparted by a divine act of God. According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 3 and 6, the Holy Spirit comes in, indwells, takes up residence, and regenerates our spirit, which died in Adam the moment he sinned. With the Holy Spirit in consort or complete agreement with our spirit, we have fellowship with God through the Spirit. Then comes the crucial chain: the Holy Spirit works on our spirit, influences the new nature, and the new nature controls the acts of the physical body. As we are led by the Spirit, the body agrees with God's laws that are good for society, family, and marital relationships. Humans still sin.
