What is the only hope for controlling the old sin nature?

The only hope is that God has intervened with something to help believers control the old Adam and keep him defeated. This involves reckoning the old sin nature crucified by faith and committed to God, who puts it to death and imparts a new divine nature.

Les explains that Paul teaches explicitly for the first time in Scripture about the sin nature. The old sin nature can be crucified and literally by faith committed unto God, to have Him put it to death. It has to be declared dead so far as God is concerned, though it remains a viable force in our living. When God reckons old Adam as crucified, He puts within us a new nature, a divine nature, the very mind and nature of Christ Himself. Even though God reckons old Adam as dead and sees him no more, in the believer’s experience he is still there. The only hope is that God has intervened with something that will help us control this old Adam and keep him defeated, which Les says he will pick up in the next program.
