What were the Galatians doing when they turned back to the law?
The Galatians were reverting to legalism and law-keeping, surrendering the freedom and joy they had in grace. They were willingly placing themselves back under bondage, trying to keep commandments, which Paul found hard to understand.
Les explains that the Galatians went back into that stuff, giving up their freedom and joy and letting themselves get wrapped up again in legalism and law-keeping. Paul asks how they could desire to again be in bondage. Les contrasts this with a woman who gloried in grace and freedom, and notes that even today the human race grovels in legalism and good works, trying to keep the commandments and not realizing that when Christ died, He paid it all.
