What is the human race mostly doing today according to Les?
The human race today is mostly groveling in legalism and good works. People attempt to keep the commandments, not realizing that Christ's death paid it all. This bondage contrasts with the freedom and grace offered through the message, yet many still pursue self-effort rather than resting in grace.
Les explains that legalism leaves people crawling in the dust and begging that somehow they can make it. He says this is the opposite of what the Galatians were doing, because they were going back into law-keeping, giving up their freedom and joy, and getting wrapped up again in legalism. Paul asks how they could desire to be in bondage again. Les says it is hard to understand, and yet that is the human race: even today, for the most part, the whole human race is simply groveling in legalism and good works, trying to keep the commandments and not realizing that when Christ died, He paid it all.
