Les Feldick Bible Study

Are Christians joint heirs with Jesus Christ?

Yes. True sons of God by saving faith are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. This joint heirship is part of the Christian experience: believers share rights to the inheritance, and it may involve suffering with Him as well as experiencing glorification with Him.

Les explains from Romans 8:17 that if believers are children and true sons of God by saving faith, they are heirs—not of a rich grandfather or corporation president, but of God. He tightens it further: they are joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Using the example of a home or property owned by two people, Les says both are joint heirs with rights to it; if one dies, it belongs to the other. This joint heirship is part of the Christian experience, and it may mean suffering with Him and also experiencing glorification with Him. Galatians agrees: no longer a slave but a son, an heir of God through Christ.

Romans 8:17

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
