If I am a son of God, am I an heir?

Yes. Scripture states that if you are a son, then you are an heir—a full heir, no longer a servant, slave, or son still under tutors. As a believer, you are also a joint heir with God Himself, placed by adoption into maturity.

Les explains that believers are no longer little children under tutors; they now hold a full, mature position. Using the illustration of a young boy who had become a full partner in his father’s business, Les says the father let him operate because he knew what he was doing. In the same way, the believer is no longer a servant, slave, or son still being tutored, but a son—a full heir. If you are in the place of maturity that adoption has placed you, then being a son means being an heir. Les adds that this is not a slip of Paul’s pen; it is part and parcel of Pauline doctrine, and Romans 8 confirms it. The believer is a joint heir with God Himself.

Galatians 4:7

Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
