What does Galatians say Christ came to do for those under the law, and what was the result for the whole human race?

Galatians teaches that Christ came to redeem those who were under the law. The result extends beyond Israel: the whole human race might receive the adoption of sons. This matches Romans 3:19, where every mouth is stopped, leaving all humanity without argument before God.

Les explains that Galatians 4 parallels Romans 3:19. The law speaks to those under it, Israel, but Christ came to redeem them that were under the law. Yet the next part of the Galatians verse says “we,” the whole general race, might receive the adoption of sons. Romans adds that this stops every mouth—not just Israel’s—so the whole human race has no argument. Les notes that at the great white throne in Revelation 20, lost humanity will not debate or have a jury trial; they will see the record and stand before Christ Jesus, the righteous judge.

Galatians 4:5
