Les Feldick Bible Study

Why is the shedding of blood required for forgiveness?

God requires the shedding of blood for forgiveness because He sovereignly placed the life of living things in the blood. It is His own prescription, established from the beginning of human experience, that without blood sacrifice there can be no remission of sin, and no one can bypass this requirement.

Les teaches that from the very onset of the human experience, God demanded a blood sacrifice before there could be a remission of sin. This goes back to His sovereign mind in creation: God put the life of living things in the blood. Les notes that science did not catch on to this until about World War II, that life is in the blood. It is God's prescription, not anyone else's, that without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness, and we cannot bypass it. He also points out that many people today do not want to hear anything about the blood, but you cannot escape it in Scripture, go around it, go over it, or go under it.
