How would Christ bruise Satan's head and defeat him?

Christ would defeat Satan by being put to death on the cross, and through His resurrection power He would crush Satan's head, placing him in defeat. Satan would still bruise Christ's heel, causing the suffering He endured for salvation, but the fatal blow belonged to the seed of the woman.

Les explains that as soon as man sinned, God provided the remedy: the seed of the woman. The remedy for man's sin came by Christ being crushed or put to death at the cross. Through His resurrection power, that death bruised Satan's head and put Satan in a place of defeat. Satan still bruised Christ's heel by causing the suffering He had to go through for our salvation. Les illustrates that a snake is killed only by crushing its head, so the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent's head, while the serpent got his licks in by causing Christ to suffer.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
