Why did Paul write Galatians in his own hand instead of using a secretary?

Paul wrote Galatians in his own hand because the issue was so urgent that he did not wait for a secretary or amanuensis to write it for him, as he did for his other epistles. Despite an eye problem and blindness, he wrote in large letters.

Les explains that Paul felt the matter was so urgent he did not even wait for a secretary, or amanuensis, to do the writing for him as was done in all his other epistles. He therefore wrote it in his own hand despite an eye problem, which Les associates with Paul's thorn in the flesh. Like blind people, Paul had to print with large figures, and he mentions the large letters he wrote. The whole little letter of Galatians is written with the message that you are not under law but under grace, and it remains appropriate today because most of Christendom is saturated with legalism, making it hard for people to break away. Les also notes that people tongue-in-cheek ask why it took the Lord three years to show Paul all the things of grace in Arabia, suggesting it took that long to get Judaism out of him, since human nature clings to religious tradition and legalism. Grace means total freedom and total liberty.

Galatians 6:11

Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
