Why won't people who go to church every Sunday be saved?

People who attend church every Sunday but never recognize their lost condition will not be saved because they think they are all right. Scripture says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and salvation begins only when a person realizes how lost they truly are.

Les explains that salvation must start with the realization of one's lost state. He points to Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God," and says that is where every person who wants salvation has to begin. He cites the parable of the ninety-nine sheep: the ninety-nine were not safe in the fold but were out on the desert without a shepherd and did not know they were lost. The one lamb caught in a crevice knew it was lost and in trouble, and that is the one the Lord saved. So today, multitudes sitting in their churches Sunday after Sunday think they are all right and will never be saved until they realize how lost they are.
