What happened to Spain after the Jews left in 1492?

Following the 1492 decree expelling Spain's Jews, Spain rapidly declined. Within roughly a hundred years, it was reduced to nothing, described as a mere blip on history. This fulfilled the pattern that empires which turn against the Jewish people go down, tied to the covenant promise concerning Abraham's seed.

Les teaches that Spain is one of the best examples. Spain was riding on the crest of national power and empire. Then in 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella made the decree that every Jew would either be out of Spain, convert to Catholicism, or be dead by a certain day. There was a great exodus of Jews out of Spain. But it was not a hundred years before Spain was nothing, just a blimp on history. Les explains this is always how it has been with every empire that has turned on the Jew: down they go. It all comes back to the covenant promise that He will bless them that bless the nation of Israel, those out of the seed of Abraham, and curse them who curse them. Yet one promise is secure: through the man Abraham, all the nations of the earth would receive a blessing, and that came about with their Messiah. When Christ came and finished the work of the cross, He became a blessing out of the line of Abraham for the whole human race.
