What does redemption include besides eternal salvation?
Redemption includes eternal salvation and the indwelling Holy Spirit. The blessings of Abraham come on Gentiles through Jesus Christ's finished work, enabling them to receive the promise of the Holy Spirit through faith, without works of the law. This gift of God is part and parcel of the whole plan of redemption.
Les explains that the blessings of Abraham come on the Gentiles not through Israel, but through the finished work of the cross through Jesus Christ. As Gentiles, believers receive the promise of the Holy Spirit through faith, without any works of the law. He teaches that this gift of God is part and parcel of the whole plan of redemption: yes, we have eternal salvation, but we also have the indwelling Holy Spirit. That is all there is to it.
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
