Was God's grace given through Israel or in Christ before the world began?

God's grace was given not through the nation of Israel, but in Christ Jesus. It was given according to God's own purpose, not according to human works, and it was granted from before the foundations of the world, before the world began. This reflects His eternal purpose rather than a national or works-based arrangement.

Les explains that II Timothy 1 teaches God saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace. That grace was given us not through the nation of Israel but in Christ Jesus from before the foundations of the world—before the world began. He calls this God's eternal purpose. The teaching also notes that God made a valid offer to Israel, as at Kadesh Barnea, where they could have entered the promised land, but God knew they would not. Their failure did not cancel His purpose; the 40-year wilderness was in the divine plan.

2 Timothy 1:9

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
