Why did Paul endure suffering and hardship on his missionary journeys?
Paul endured suffering and hardship on his missionary journeys for the sake of the Gospel, to get it out to the ends of the Roman Empire. Though he traveled in a small boat and was surrounded by the immoral remains of that empire, he never let it turn his mind aside; he just preached the Gospel.
Les explains that Paul did not get through as easily as Abraham did; he suffered. Les recalls traveling the Mediterranean Sea and thinking of Paul bouncing around on a little boat not much bigger than a cork. Yet Paul did it all for the sake of the Gospel, to get it out to the ends of the Roman Empire. Even while in the midst of the immoral remains of that Roman Empire, Paul never let it turn his mind aside; he just preached the Gospel. Les calls this a lesson and a revelation.
