What hardships did Paul endure for the sake of the Gospel?
Paul endured physical suffering and severe illness, including being deathly sick and fearing he would not live. He faced persecution and pressure at Ephesus from the silversmiths, was beaten with rods, shipwrecked, and endured cold, nakedness, and hunger—all for the sake of the Gospel.
Les teaches that Paul was sold out to Christ and was beating the bushes of the Gentile communities for the sake of the Gospel. He suffered not only physically at the hands of his enemies but also in areas of sickness. As he left Ephesus under terrible persecution and pressure because of the silversmiths, he became deathly sick and actually thought he was not going to live, while still carrying the burden of the unreached millions of the Roman Empire. On top of that, as 2 Corinthians shows, he was beaten with rods, shipwrecked, cold, naked, and hungry—all for the sake of the Gospel.
