Why does Hebrews say that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin?

Hebrews says it because blood is the price of redemption; remission requires payment. Scripture teaches believers are not bought with silver and gold but with the precious blood of Christ. That atoning blood pays the price, so without its shedding there is no remission.

Les explains that it is the blood that is the price of redemption, and this truth runs all through Scripture. Peter tells us that believers are not bought with silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. That is why Hebrews says that without the shedding of blood there is no remission; sin has to be paid for with atoning blood. He also connects this to Galatians 3:13, where Christ redeemed us by paying the price of redemption with His blood, being made a curse for us, for cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree. God chose death by crucifixion so He could be lifted up and placed on a tree to fulfill that whole concept. He could not have died any other death, or it would not have fulfilled the total picture.

Hebrews 9:22

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
