What puts a person under the curse of the Law?
Failure to keep every jot and tittle of the Law to the last iota of perfection puts a person under the curse. If one chooses Law-keeping or a works religion, Scripture says, 'Cursed is every man that does not do them.' Christ redeemed us by becoming a curse for us.
Les explains that religion is man attempting to merit favor with God, while Christianity is God reaching down in grace and saving sinful men. Religion always demands works, telling people what they must do and cannot do, but true Gospel Christianity says you do nothing because God has done it all. Ephesians 1:13 says Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the Law. The curse falls on anyone who does not keep every jot and tittle of the Law to the last iota of perfection. As Deuteronomy says, 'Cursed is every man that does not do them,' if you are going to do the Law. Christ took the curse of the Law upon Himself, being made a curse for us, for it is written, 'Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.'
