Les Feldick Bible Study

What is all God is looking for from us for righteousness — faith alone or faith plus works?

For righteousness, God looks for faith alone—simply believing that the Lord died for you and was raised in resurrection power—without adding any human work. Abraham did nothing but believe God, and God imputed righteousness to him; that is all God is looking for from us.

Les teaches from Hebrews 11 that Abel's faith was expressed by offering a more excellent sacrifice, and Noah's faith moved him to build the ark; their faith was accompanied by action. Yet Abraham did not offer a sacrifice at that time or do anything—he simply believed God, and God saw his faith and imputed righteousness. Les applies this to us: without doing a thing, we simply believe that the Lord died for us and was raised in resurrection power, and that is all God is looking for.
