How was Abraham saved and did he have imputed righteousness?

Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing, not by works or added requirements, and he possessed imputed righteousness. Those in the Body of Christ also receive imputed righteousness, and that makes them just like Abraham. This unique privilege in God’s economy confirms that Abraham’s righteousness was imputed, not earned.

Les explains that Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing, not faith plus something, and that Abraham had imputed righteousness. He contrasts this with the early chapters of Acts, where repentance and baptism were required alongside faith, so faith alone would not cut it in that setting. But Paul’s message is different: believers in the Body of Christ have imputed righteousness, making them just like Abraham. Les adds that no one else in God’s economy had that privilege, and he turns to Hebrews 11, the great faith chapter, to make the point.
