What did God command Israel in Leviticus 18 about the practices of Canaan?

God commanded Israel not to do after the doings of the land of Canaan or walk in their ordinances. Instead, they were to do His judgments and keep His ordinances, because He is the LORD their God. He also forbade the immoral sins of Canaanites and Egyptians, which believers must avoid.

Les explains that God set Israel apart from the practices of Canaan. They were not to follow the doings of the land of Canaan, where God was bringing them, nor walk in their ordinances. Rather, they were to do His judgments and keep His ordinances because He is the LORD their God. Beginning in verse 6, Les says, God stipulates graphically all the immoral sins of the Canaanites and the Egyptians, which believers were to have nothing to do with. Les emphasizes that this is still applicable. Just because we are under grace does not mean we are free to eat blood, practice immorality, or worship idols. Those things are forbidden, and we better remember that.

Leviticus 18:3

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
