How long after Pentecost were they still debating faith alone versus keeping the Law?

About 22 years after Pentecost, in roughly AD 51, the Jerusalem Council still debated whether salvation was by faith alone or required keeping the Law of Moses and circumcision. Paul went up by revelation to confront the Twelve so this issue could be settled.

Les explains that by AD 51, a long time after Pentecost, about 22 years had passed, and they were still debating whether a person can be saved by faith alone or must keep the Law of Moses and practice circumcision. He points to Galatians 2, where Paul says he went up by revelation and communicated the gospel he preached among the heathen. The Lord evidently told Paul it was time to go to Jerusalem and confront the Twelve, because they had to settle this or they could never move out into the Gentile world. Paul’s Gospel, God through Christ in this Age of Grace, will have none of adding works, as Galatians 5 later shows.

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.
