How many years after Pentecost were they still debating Law and circumcision?

About 22 years after Pentecost, the early church was still debating whether salvation required faith alone or also keeping the Law of Moses and practicing circumcision. This debate is placed around AD 51 and involved Paul confronting the Twelve in Jerusalem.

Les explains that this debate occurred around AD 51, which he calculates as about 22 years after Pentecost. The question was whether a person could be saved by faith alone, or whether they also had to keep the Law of Moses and practice circumcision. Paul went up to Jerusalem by revelation to confront the Twelve and communicate the gospel he preached among the heathen. The council was necessary so that the gospel could move out into the Gentile world. Les notes this is the context of Galatians chapter 2.
