Why did the Holy Spirit prevent Paul from being tainted by the twelve apostles' teaching?

The Holy Spirit kept Paul separate so the risen Lord’s distinct revelation to him would not be mixed with what the Twelve had learned during Jesus’ earthly ministry. Paul therefore did not confer with flesh and blood or go to Jerusalem’s prior apostles, because his authority came directly from the glorified Christ.

Les explains that the logical expectation would have been for Paul to go back to Jerusalem and ask Peter and the others who had been with Jesus for three years to tell him everything He taught them. But the Holy Spirit is making it so positive here that He is not going to let this man be tainted whatsoever by what the twelve had learned at the feet of Jesus. Jesus the Lord now has something totally different to show Paul, and He does not want it mixed up. Paul says he conferred not with flesh and blood, with other human beings, because he is dealing with the flesh and bone Lord Jesus up in glory. When Paul realized he was going to be an apostle of the Gentiles, he did not go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before him. Yet Les notes that Paul never takes away the authority of Peter and the other eleven apostles.
