Why did Paul disassociate himself from the twelve in doctrine and gospel?
God had revealed to Paul something no one else had heard before, a truth He had kept secret until His chosen time. Because the twelve could not comprehend this new revelation, Paul separated from them in doctrine and gospel. God designated Paul apostle of the Gentiles, while the twelve remained apostles of Israel.
Les explains that Paul, writing his letters, disassociates himself from the twelve so far as their doctrines and their Gospel were concerned. The reason is that God has now revealed something to this man that no one else has heard before. God keeps things secret until He is ready to reveal it, and that is how to view the revelations given to Paul. God saw fit to keep it secret; the twelve couldn't comprehend it, but Paul does. Consequently, God is going to designate him as the apostle of the Gentiles, whereas the twelve were apostles of Israel. This separation also relates to God breaking Saul away from the traditions of the fathers.
