Why were the disciples still preaching only to Jews years after Pentecost?

They were still preaching only to Jews because they were obeying Jesus' commandment in Matthew to go not into the way of the Gentiles but only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. This occurred about seven years after Pentecost, as God was still dealing with the nation of Israel.

Les explains that this was long after Pentecost, about seven years, and the disciples were still adhering to the commandment Jesus gave in Matthew: 'go not in the way of a Gentile, but go only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.' They were preaching the Word from the Old Testament to Jews only. Les points out that from Genesis 12 until Acts chapter 9, God was dealing with the nation of Israel, not exclusively but almost. The purpose of saving this Jewish zealot Saul was to show that there would now be a change of direction.
