What caused the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus?

The destruction of Jerusalem by Titus was caused by the obstinacy of the Judaistic religious people. Although Rome respected Judaism as an ancient religion and protected Temple offerings, their stubbornness brought down the city. Rome even permitted extradition of Jews and protected Temple funds, but their own obstinacy led to destruction.

Les explains that the Judaistic religious people had considerable clout with Rome. Rome respected Judaism as one of the ancient religions, so it protected the vast sums of money sent from across the empire to the Temple, never losing a gift. Rome also allowed the Jews to demand extradition of those they wanted to deal with. Yet despite this favored status, it was their own obstinacy that brought down the city of Jerusalem by Titus. By contrast, the Romans persecuted Christians because the faith was new and treated like a sect.
