Why did God send the Roman army to destroy Jerusalem and the temple?

God brought the Roman army under Titus against Jerusalem as an act of discipline. The legions besieged the city, destroyed thousands of Jews, dismantled the temple rock by rock and stone by stone, fulfilling what the prophet had written, and Israel was dispersed into every nation on earth.

Les teaches that this was discipline again: God brought in the Roman army under Titus, and Titus besieged the city. When he gained entrance, it was the greatest mayhem imaginable. The Roman legions destroyed the Jews by the thousands, took the temple down rock by rock and stone by stone, just as the prophet had written. Israel was then dispersed into every nation on the face of the earth. Later, they began returning, setting up kibbutzes, and in 1948 became a sovereign state again. Even though the world claims God is through with the Jew, He promised His mercy would never depart from Israel.
