Can you just read the Bible without studying it?
No, reading the Bible alone is not enough; Scripture calls for study. A telephone caller learned that you cannot just read the Bible unless you study it. Once a person develops a love for the Word, reading it isn't enough—they will end up studying it, fulfilling the command to study to show yourself approved unto God.
Les explains that this ministry is an informal Bible study not tied to any group, with no agenda to move people between groups. The sole request is that people get into the Book and learn to read it. Yet he emphasizes that mere reading is insufficient. He recounts a caller from International Falls, Minnesota, who said Les taught him you cannot just read the Bible unless you study it. Les agrees: once you love the Word, reading isn't enough—you will end up studying it. He points to Scripture's command, "Study to show thyself approved unto God," and says his only aim is to emphasize the study of God's Word, not to seek financial compensation.
