What did Paul preach that resulted in conversions everywhere he went?

Paul preached Christ crucified, buried, and risen from the dead. That simple Gospel message carried its own power, and wherever he went people were convicted and converted out of paganism. He did not rely on a Madison Avenue approach; the preaching of the cross produced faith that spread abroad.

Les explains that Paul was not looking for some Madison Avenue approach to get the masses to come and hear him. Whatever Paul preached, in all its simplicity, people were convicted. In I Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 9, Paul cites what he experienced everywhere he went: he preached Christ crucified, buried, and risen from the dead. That is the power of the Gospel, and even though we cannot understand it, God in His own inimitable way brings people to a knowledge of the truth. The Thessalonians were just as pagan as the rest, yet they were converted out of paganism. Their faith to God was spread abroad, and they shared it wherever they went; their mouths could not be shut.
