Did Paul preach to people who already knew about God or biblical morality?

No. Paul did not approach people who already knew there was a God or who had any concept of biblical morality. He preached to abject, blatantly immoral pagans. He simply proclaimed the Gospel, and they came out of their paganism through the Word.

Les explains that Paul did not have the advantage of addressing people who already knew there was a God or had any concept of biblical morality. Instead, Paul preached to abject, blatantly immoral pagans, and all he did was preach the Gospel, and they came out of it. Les illustrates this from his own teaching: a man in his class for about fifteen years said Les never spoke against drinking, smoking, cursing, gambling, or illicit sex, yet the Word brought him out of that fast-lane lifestyle. Les says you don't have to get on people about their drinking or immorality; the Word takes care of it. Many go astray trying to legislate morality or use guilt trips, but people must be found guilty by realizing what the Word says. This is what Paul was after; he wasn't looking for a gimmick or a Madison Avenue approach to get people's attention.
