Why was Paul unmerciful to his fellow Jews?
Paul was unmerciful to his fellow Jews because they had believed in Jesus of Nazareth. He had persecuted them for their faith, and God told Ananias in Damascus that Paul must suffer for His name's sake because he had precipitated so much suffering himself.
Les teaches that Paul's unmerciful treatment of his fellow Jews went back to the old saying, "what goes around comes around." For several years Paul did the same thing to his victims. He persecuted them because they had believed in Jesus of Nazareth. God told Ananias in Damascus, "I will show this man how he must suffer for My name's sake," because Paul had precipitated so much suffering himself. Later Paul suffered at the hands of Jews and Romans, was shipwrecked multiple times, beaten with rods, and stoned, with Acts recording only some of those events.
