What does it mean that Satan is transformed into an angel of light?
Satan is transformed into an angel of light means he changes only his outward appearance, appearing as though he is the one to be worshipped and listened to. He uses seemingly right terminology, but it is empty of doctrine. Yet he does not change in nature; he is still Satan, deceiving through his ministers.
Les explains that false apostles and deceitful workers transform themselves into the apostles of Christ. They use much the same language Paul did, making reference to Christ, His death, burial, resurrection, and the Holy Spirit. They use all the seemingly right terminology, but it is totally empty of doctrine. Then verse 14 says, “And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” Satan appears as though he is the one to be worshipped and listened to, but it is still Satan. He does not change except for his outward appearance, so he is transformed into an angel of light. Since Satan is driving this and has people totally confused because of his outward appearances, it is no great thing if his ministers also appear as ministers of righteousness. They are Satan’s ministers.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
