Les Feldick Bible Study

What are the weapons of our warfare and what do they accomplish?

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal or of the flesh; they are mighty through God. They accomplish the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and everything exalting itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Les explains that Paul’s war was not after the flesh but in the spiritual realm. The weapons are not carnal, yet they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. He points to Ephesus, where Paul’s ministry made such an impact that it was destroying the work of the idol makers and silversmiths until they caused a riot—one man doing that to a complete city, an example of pulling down strongholds. Les also notes casting down imaginations and everything that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. He emphasizes that our largest problem and most battles are in the thought processes, where temptations occur.
