Where do we have our biggest problem and fight most of our battles?
The biggest problem and the arena of most battles is the thought processes. Temptations come in the thought life, so every thought must be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, casting down imaginations and everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
Les explains that the battle is spiritual, not fleshly. Paul’s weapons were not carnal but mighty through God to pulling down strongholds, as seen when his ministry impacted Ephesus and the worship of Diana, even disrupting the idol makers and silversmiths until a riot occurred. Les then points to verse 5: casting down imaginations and everything exalting itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. He concludes that our largest problem and most battles are in the thought processes, where temptations arise in the thought.
