What happened when Israel did not respond to the Gospel of the Kingdom?

When Israel failed to respond to the Gospel of the Kingdom, the King did not come, and the Jerusalem believers' shared funds were exhausted. Having sold their possessions and unable to leave, they became poor and were sustained by God through the apostles' agreement that Paul remember the poor saints in Jerusalem.

Les explains that after Pentecost, believing Jews expected the King and Kingdom soon, so they stayed in Jerusalem and lived out of the common kitty rather than returning to Babylon, Rome, Spain, or North Africa. But Israel did not respond, the King did not come, and the kitty ran out. They ended up poor, having sold their goods and unable even probably to buy a ticket back home. They were caught in Jerusalem, but God is just. These people were caught in a legitimate cause because they had believed the Gospel of the Kingdom, so God would take care of them until they would die a natural death. This care came through the agreement Paul made with Peter, James, and John that wherever he would go in his ministry, he would remember the poor saints in Jerusalem.
