What does the woman caught in adultery show us about God?

It reveals that God is willing and ready to forgive sinners, but His forgiveness is not license to continue in adultery or sin. With forgiveness, He expects growth in spirituality and a changed life, as Jesus told the woman, "Go, and sin no more."

Les explains that this account shows God is willing and ready to forgive, but forgiveness is not a license to adultery. The religious leaders were convicted by their own conscience and left one by one. When Jesus was left alone with the woman, He asked where her accusers were and if any had condemned her. She said no man. Jesus replied that He did not condemn her either, but told her to go and sin no more. Les emphasizes that with forgiveness God expects growth in spirituality, and he points to King David after his sin with Bathsheba as a graphic example.

John 8:10
