Les Feldick Bible Study

Why did Paul still love the Corinthians when they accused him?

Paul still loved the Corinthians because they remained in his heart, and he did not speak to condemn them. In spite of the bad things they said about him, he continued to love them, even bragging about them to other congregations.

Les explains that Paul had been accused of various things, and each response simply reiterates that the accusations were not true. In verse 3, Paul says he does not speak to condemn them, because they are in his heart to die and live with him. Les points out that Paul was so full of love for the Corinthians that despite all the bad things they said about him, he still loved them. It was not always easy, but he did. Verse 4 shows his boldness of speech, glorying, comfort, and exceeding joy in tribulation. Les adds that Paul even bragged about them to his other congregations, such as telling the people at Ephesus that he had a great bunch of people at Corinth who had problems, but he loved every one of them.

2 Corinthians 7:3
