When the devil lies, where does the lie originate?
The lie originates with the devil himself, not with God. Scripture says when he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, because he is a liar and the father of it. He is therefore the originator of every lie, the direct opposite of Christ, who is truth.
Les explains that because Christ is the epitome of truth, the direct opposite is the lie. In John 8:44, Jesus speaks to the Jews of His day and says they are of their father the devil, and the desires of their father they will do. The devil was a murderer from the beginning and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; it originates with him, not with God. He is a liar and the father of it, the originator of every lie.
