Who did Jesus say the Jews of his day had as their father?

Jesus said the Jews of His day had the devil as their father. In John 8:44 He told them, "You are of your father the devil," and that they would do his desires. He called the devil a murderer from the beginning, a liar, and the father of lies.

Les explains that since Christ is truth, the direct opposite is the lie. He directs us to John 8:44, where Jesus, speaking to the Jews of His day, says, "You are of your father the devil," and adds that the lusts or desires of their father they will do. Les notes the devil was a murderer from the beginning, did not abide in the truth, and has no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it—the originator of every lie.

John 8:44

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
