Why would the Pharisees love Jesus if God were their Father?
The Pharisees would have loved Jesus, had God been their Father, because He proceeded forth and came from God, and the Father sent Him. Their refusal to love Him proved they were not God's children; Jesus identified their father as the devil.
Les explains that the Pharisees claimed, 'We have one Father, even God,' but Jesus answered that if God were their Father, they would love Him, for He proceeded forth and came from God and was sent by the Father. Instead, they accused Him of being born of fornication and did not believe His virgin birth. Because they could not hear His word, Jesus said they were of their father, the devil. Their hatred of Christ showed their true paternity.
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
