Who gave the law, and through whom did grace and truth come?

Scripture states that the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Christ is the epitome of truth, while the devil is the direct opposite—a liar and the father of lies, as John 8:44 declares.

Les explains that the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. He emphasizes that Christ is the epitome of truth, then asks who is the direct opposite of truth—the lie. Turning to John 8:44, Les shows Jesus telling the Jews their father is the devil, a murderer from the beginning who did not abide in the truth because no truth is in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. Les stresses that the devil is the originator of every lie, then moves back to the Old Testament.

John 1:17

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
