When did Paul write 2 Corinthians?

Paul wrote 2 Corinthians within a year after his first letter to the Corinthians, likely about ten or eleven months later. Scholars differ on the exact interval, but it was sometime within that year, placing its composition shortly after the first letter.

Les explains that the first letter to the Corinthians was written to correct horrible problems among them, chiefly gross immorality that even pagan Gentiles did not practice, and a member of the church was guilty. The main thrust of the first letter was to correct those terrible things in the local assembly. Then the second letter comes within the next year. Les notes that most scholars do not agree whether it was 10 months or 11 months, but it was sometime within a year after the first letter that he writes this second one. Les emphasizes this timing because it helps understand the language in the next two or three chapters.
