What does it mean that the righteousness of God is imparted to the believer?
When God imparts His righteousness to a believer, it means God sees that person clothed in His own righteousness. He no longer looks on the old sinner but looks on the believer and sees the righteousness of Christ. This is not a holiness that makes one useless on earth.
Les explains that many people are afraid of the word righteousness, thinking it denotes a holiness that makes you so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. But that is not the case. When the righteousness of God is imparted to the believer, it simply means that God now sees you, and sees me, clothed in the righteousness of God Himself. He does not look on the old sinner, whoever you are, but now God looks on you and sees the righteousness of Christ.
