What has God done with believers in relation to darkness and the kingdom of His Son?

God the Father has delivered believers from the power of darkness and translated them into the kingdom of His dear Son. He has also prepared them to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, making them citizens of heaven and members of Christ’s kingdom.

Les explains from Colossians 1:12–13 that Paul, praying for Gentile believers in Colossae, gives thanks to the Father. God made believers meet, or prepared them, to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. He delivered them from the power of darkness and translated them into the kingdom of His dear Son. Les points out that this kingdom is in heaven, so believers are now citizens of heaven because they are members of the Kingdom of Christ. In the surrounding context, Les also compares believers to ambassadors left here as representatives of their homeland in heaven.
