Was Jesus on the cross the same God who created the world in Genesis 1:1?
Scripture declares that God was in Christ on the cross, and that it was the Creator of the universe who hung there. Jesus of Calvary was the same God of Genesis 1:1 who called everything into being. He had to be, or He could never have tasted death for every man or paid the sin debt of every human being.
Les explains that God was in Christ as He hung on that cross, and it was the Creator of the universe who hung there. He notes that Jesus of the cross of Calvary was the same God of Genesis 1:1 who called everything into being. He had to be, or He could never have tasted death for every man; He had to be the God of creation, or He could never have paid the sin debt of every human being. Les also recounts a gentleman who asked, 'Who in the world is Jesus Christ anyway?' and says that was the best question. His first answer is that Jesus is the Creator of the universe, the God of creation, the same God who took on flesh and went the way of the cross. Paul is telling us that God was in Christ, reconciling the world back to Himself after He lost it in Adam, not imputing their trespasses unto them. Until a lost person dies, Les does not think his sins are being held against him.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
