Les Feldick Bible Study

What can you conclude when a person's change in lifestyle is genuine?

A genuine change in lifestyle indicates that the person has come to know the Lord and has experienced what it is to be born again. It evidences the creative work of God, with old appetites passed away and new attitudes, behavior, and concepts of life.

Les teaches that every believer will have a change of appetites, lifestyle, behavior, and attitude because they are a new person, different from what they were. This does not make anyone sinless or give them a halo, but it shows they are the result of a creative work of a Creator God and have a whole new concept in life. He illustrates this with a young man who spent every Saturday night in the tavern and bar, then came to his class and asked why he never saw Les in the bar. Les replied, for the same reason he did not see him in church on Sunday morning. Their lifestyles and appetites are as different as daylight and dark. Because of this, Les questions professing Christians who see nothing wrong with doing everything the world does. There must be a change in attitude and behavior; if there is no change, he doubts anything happened. He never says anything about leading someone to Christ until he sees that change in lifestyle. When the change is genuine, he can shout to the heights of heaven that this person has come to know the Lord and has experienced what it is to be born again.
